Trans-Am Reunion 2005 - Bend, Oregon
by Bob Smith

In the summer of 2001 seventeen tandems and one single bike crossed the United States in seven weeks. We averaged over 80 miles per day riding six days a week through deserts, over mountain passes, plains, hot and humid rolling hills and valleys. We crossed ten states from Newport Beach CA to Yorktown VA. The riding conditions and many of the circumstances of the journey were less than ideal. Our tour leader was a disappointment to many of us and has provided us with numerous stories. Not only did we make it from sea to shining sea during the very hot summer of 2001, we established life long bonds that continue to bring us together. This is a journal is a testament of our fourth annual week long reunion of cycling and celebration of our friendship. In July of 2005 fourteen teams reconvened in Bend, OR for our 4th Annual Trans-Am Family Reunion.
